I'm with you! I also like the Icy Hot Patches. Although when I wear them, my 10 year old son complains about the smell.

Hey I just thought of one of my mostest comfortable things! It is sitting in a thick, comfy, massage chair, with my feet getting washed, scrubbed, rubbed, clipped, and dipped by a caring pedicure-provider! My wife found one of these great places a while back, and I've been completely hooked! Try it! Joel

I had similar thoughts! I've had a few pedicures and I always forewarn them that my leg might "jerk/spasm". I still love to get them though!

I'm most comfortable when I'm in a deep sleep in my water bed, when I'm in my dream state, where i'm normal and free from the confinements & limitations of my body....
having said that... what about everyone else, do most of you dream or remember you dreams?, how are you in your dreams?, how do you appear in your dreams...
when I dream, I can walk, run, climb, dance....rarely do i dream of myself in the state I am today...

I dream most nights and usually remember them (although maybe not the "meaning" of them). I too am my "old" self in my dreams. I have hit my five year mark and I still "forget" sometimes until I get out of the bed in the morning and my feet hit the floor - then it's like "Oh yea".

I'm with WA on this one. I am most comfy when I am sleeping. I don't feel the pain or discomfort. Once I wake up it kinda gets weird for me from there. I wake painless for a bit. The moment I try to move, roll over, get up, etc., there is severe stiffness and pain. Like I just woke up in the hospital after being in an auto accident. It takes grunts, groans and sheer willpower to sit up and get to my feet. My reaction is almost always the same.... THIS @#%$ing SUX!
Once I get up on my feet and begin to move, within 30 seconds or so I feel semi normal. That lasts anywhere from the next several seconds up to a couple of minutes. Then the pain hits. No creeping in at all. Like a hammer fall. BAM! Reality check. Time to reach for 2 cups of coffee, 2 ciggs, multi-vitamin tab, (recently) 2000mg vitamin C, B complex dropper and a Lyrica. Breakfast of Champions huh? Within 20-40 minutes the Lyrica kicks in and I'm my usual gimpy self with the usual pain, weakness and fatigue.
So I ride a roller coaster each day with my "comfort" levels. They vary so much, depending on the time of day, how long I managed to get real rest/sleep, and how active I was or wasn't the day before.
Prone in the water bed on my side with a long thin pillow between my knees to ankles. Or reclined in my trusty recliner w/extra back support, an extra butt cushion (tempurpedic) and a fluffy pillow under my lower legs. I can't get much done from either position but it's as comfy as I have been able to get.

I've been curious about others' dreams too. My dreams are mostly great! Im not in a wheelchair, im walking around like normal, everythings fine, and i distinctly remember thinking in my dreams, "thank God i can walk after all that crap". Then i wake up and say "Damn".

I tend to pay less and less attention to my dreams. Less since the operation. I suppose mine are pretty typical of those in our situation as well as those who are not. I'm not a gimp in my dreams, ever. Sometimes they are quite vivid. Other times less so. Not much different really, if at all, than it was before the surgery. Though my dreams tend to be a lot less stressful in nature. I haven't had one of those frustrating dreams where you're running from danger but can't seem to get where you're trying to go. I do still have the dreams where I can't seem to find whatever it is I'm seeking.... people, places, things. And it is frustrating to a degree. But less stressful and frustrating in nature than the dreams I use to have.
I have practiced interactive dreaming techniques off and on for years. That is to make yourself aware at some point during the dream state that you are simply dreaming. At times it works and I can manipulate the outcome. Other times I'm along for the ride and never seem to be able to acknowledge that "it's only a dream."
I tend to accept the dream state for what it's viewed as from a more scientific point of view. Less from the mystical, philosophical side. All of those neurons firing about for hours and days. Build up of the less useful-excess baggage needs to be purged. "Data/Garbage Dump." The mind/body's mechanism of purging itself of useless, built up or residual information. We do the same for our computers in order to maintain a healthy hard drive... Use a registry cleaner to remove the entires no longer useful and a defrag tool to neatly arrange the useful stuff left so it's quickly and more easily accessible. Without these processes the hard drive becomes burdened with excess crud, it slows way down and has to work harder to accomplish otherwise simple tasks. Which inevitably leads to a shorter life span.
On the more human outlook, I sometimes think that vivid dreams could be a way our mind pushes things to the forefront that we need to deal with. "HEY MIKE! Quite ignoring this and deal with it."
Naturally, I am no expert on dreams. I could be as right as rain or as wrong as those who swore the world was flat.

Dreams...Ah Yes...I am almost positive that they are a bi Product of my medication. I sleep so sound and dream so vivid I am certain they are drug induced. I am whole in all of my dreams and can do anything like I did before. I always feel refreshed after a good dream and like everyone else when I awake I am still aching as well. Sooo....I will just keep dreaming and hopefully they will come true one day.
