Funnywalk, any update on Kratom. I'm looking at it and a plant extract. Another question, did you come off the Tram first or mix it. I'm leery about long term effects of opiates, I'm going to have to deal with pain a long time and I just don't get relief from them anyway. I'm still on 1200 ibuprofen daily and 150 daily tram. I'm looking at what I can do to keep pain manageable. I need to do a bit of research before mixing or adding anything to the mix I'm on.
___
Just a side note: Fats and sugars help boost endorphin. That will help. It's best if its whole food sources, olive oil, avocadoes, nuts, and fruits. I can notice a difference in pain in a higher fat diet. Still researching, but if anyone is having trouble with pain, it's worth googling. Standing and walking and moving help my pain, but if I can't get it down enough, I can't move in the first place. Pain is too bad.
Love you all, hang in there!

Tramadol is a godsend for me, I have taken 300-400 mg's per day for the past 7 years (one slow release 200mg pill in the moring and one in the evening 6am, 6p.) I also take ativan at night to relax my muscles and just started cymbalta.
I tried Kratom but it gave me no relief.

Hi von, I always use kratom as an adjunct. It means I need less of the prescribed opiates. Currently taking 4 tramadols a day 50 mg, or 4 cocodamols 30/500 with 2 caps kratom. Not sure how much is in each capsule but it deffo has a cheering up effect. I'm also taking 4 baclofens a day, two at night as cramps are worse. Everything gradually getting worse. Really need more options/magic bullet/ miracle. Ha ha.

Oh, and I've just started daily swimming and wow, those endorphins! The jacuzzi is brilliant for pummelling the neuropathic areas, even tho the sign says people like me shouldnt go there. Well, I do and it's great. Keeping rules is for sissies.

I wanted to post a quick update about Tramadol. Went through radiation 2.5 years ago, have varying degrees of neuropathy in about 50% of my body (below the waist). Was on Tramadol 1.5 years. Was showing some severe adrenal issues, so chose to try pulling the medication over the course of months. Tried various natural options, but have had no luck. Been off of medications for 3 to 4 months. Heart rate is still resting about 120-150 beats a minute from stress from the pain. Glucose is also resting higher 130 due to the stress. Otherwise blood panels are normal. I've not able to move much, muscles have weakened significantly. I'm going to try a straight SSRI and retry anti-inflam but I have a feeling I'll have to go back to Tramadol. Best I can remember, I get severe edema from SSRI and Neurontin (Gabapentin). Was hoping to find a medication that would work to "trade out" for the tramadol to get a more consistent effect as medication seems less effective over time. Switching for a short time when needed. I believe the SNRI effects of Tram are the reason for effectiveness, but I'm having little luck getting relief by trying to naturally boost both serotonin and norephedrine. Opiates and morphine do not work on me. So I don't see a lot of options there. I read somewhere there is a second form of tramadol, will read up a bit more on it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/O-Desmethyltramadol

Depending on the severity of your pain if it's very painful then tramadol doesn't work but it's also depends on the person. For me being on opiates and severe pain a new doctor wouldn't prescribe my previous meds but did tramadol. It did nothing, went to a pain Doctor close to me and he prescribed a smaller dose of my previous opiates and it worked great helped everything but the tumor pain which goes down my legs.
