MY PAIN IS NOT TREMENDOUS BUT SOME DAYS IT REQUIRES A LITTLE MORE ATTENTION. CHIME IN, PLEASE!!! ( SORRY, BACKGROUND. EPENDY T-1 THRU T4 80% REMOVED, MANY ISSUES WE ALL UNDERSTAND)

I use it daily. I dont have any side effects from it at all. It takes away alot of the muscle aches and pains so that I can be comfortable but I only use it as needed and somedays I dont need any at all. There is also a generic for it that makes it much easier on the pocket book but there is also a Brand name time released 24 hr pill that you can take at night and it lasts all day. I say it is worth a shot.

I have been using Tramadol for 4 years and have been very pleased.
I don't take it everyday though. Maybe once or twice a week.
After surgery I was taking Morphine pills and Lortab, but after a month I stopped the morphine because of the vivid daydreams and nighmares it gave me. Then I asked my doctor about pain pills that would allow me to be able to go back to work and not be "high". He told me to try Tramadol and I haven't had to ask again.
For the first two years I took the tramadol every day, but for the last year I have been able to manage the pain better and my body has been able to take more of the pain without me screaming for meds.
I now take Alieve ever morning and then in the afternoon. If the pain gets too tough then I take a tramadol in the early evening or just before bed.
I can take them in the morning but I don't want to have to depend on them too much.
I used to also take muscle relaxers at night and that really helped my body start the day off on the right foot but I've stopped taking them too.
Good luck finding the right pill. Charity

I have been using Tramadol for two years, 300 mg per day. I have constant pain in my neck (removal of C2-5 ependymoma) and it works well in conjunction with neurontin and diclofenac. I was recently told by my primary care doc that Tramadol is an opiate, and that I needed to stop using so much. I started taking this because I HATE Vicodin and thought this was a non-opiate alternative. Does anyone know if that is true? My pharmacist says it isn't classified as a habit forming medication and is not an opiate. I don't know who to believe.

I dont know about that but it (tramadol) causes depression in some people. try dealing with the pain and every other day not taking the other. but not a doc, ask your Doctor.

Can you take Tramadol with Coumadin/Warfarin? Anyone here in the same boat as me?

Hi FW,
I've been taking tramadol for 2-3 years and, according to the leaflet you get in the pack, you cannot take warfarin with it. However, I'd check with my doctor first as you may be able to take them together providing you are on a very low dose. My Dad is on warfarin for life due to recurrent blood clots and I know there aren't many analgesics you can safely take with them. He takes co-codomol for pain as he's been told to avoid NSAIDs etc due to blood thining.

Thanks, lw. Now I'm researching medicinal cannabis online - has anyone here tried it? You can get it in Calif apparently, or Holland with a UK prescription.

I am on warfarin for life and my doctor prescribed Tramadol. I'm in the same boat as you and it's been a struggle finding pain relief but this works for me. On a side note....I also have a home INR kit which makes my life on warfarin easier since I can check my INR anytime without having to make a trip to the lab. Let me know if you babe questions about other meds as I've been dealing with blood thinners for 15 years now.
