Hi, Nick. I remember you! I hope your MRI results are good. Let us know. Have your symptoms changed at all during this first year of knowing you had a tumor? Teresa (another cervical "watch & wait" person)

That's great Nick! That is great news. I hope that I too can wait awhile before surgery. I was diagnosed in Oct 2010.
Todd, quick question, I read in one of your earlier posts that the nerves that affect your breathing are in the c5 area. I've been having some difficulty taking a deep breath sometimes. I can eventually, but it's not always initial. This comes and goes, and was MUCH MUCH worse when I found out. I've been fine for a while, but I noticed it again this past weekend. Do you mind sharing your information about this? I've tried to research, but haven't found much information about this specifically.

MRI report shows no growth, NS says see you in 12, yes 12 months. Good news.

That's fantastic news, Nick!! I hope I'll hear similar news after my next follow-up MRI at the end of July.

Good luck on the followup, Im liking the 12 month club, interestingly the doc threw me for a loop this visit when he said it would eventually have to come out. This was different from other visits when he said as long as no deficits and no growth, leave him alone. I emailed him and asked why he said that and he said, "As an obligate pessimist, I suspect that it will eventually behave poorly and need to come out. It is my job to worry about such things."
Well, take it for what it's worth. I think I'll take the optimist role, I like that one better.

Thank you, Nick! The NS I saw in mid-February looked at my MRI & surprised me when he said right off the bat, "If that was in my back, I'd want it out." I told him I wasn't ready for a major surgery & that I'd prefer to watch and wait for now. Fortunately, my symptoms are manageable for the time being. I'm cautiously optimistic that they'll remain manageable indefinitely, which is unusual because normally I'm the pessimistic type.

interesting he said, "cancer of the spine". it's kind of a grey area with docs whether this is cancer or not. my doc said I had a cancer diagnosis, but several on the board here had docs calling it benign tumor, not cancer. don't want to rehash, just found it interesting.
and yes mountainblue, sex is different post op. I got lucky though, I only have numbness at the very end of my urethra. I can tell when my bladder is full but really can't feel anything when going.
there's actually a forum dedicated to the discussion of sex, most of us hang out in the general forum here, though.

Montana, thanks so much for sharing. Was your tumor intramedullary?
