More problems.. .what is next?

I just got back from my chiro visit. I have been traveling 2x a week 1 1/2 hours to see this specialist. Last week when I was there he decided to send me for x rays of my neck. Just plain old x rays. I have had about 10 Mris on my neck but have never had an xray.

We reviewed my films today and he was very surprised to see a "Clay Shoveling" at my c7.. It is a broken bone and the broken piece is just hanging around in there. I have struggled with this shoulder blade pain for almost 5 years. I was told it was this and that and when the tumor was found that was to blame for the pain. Now I have a broken bone in there and may have to have another surgery to repair or get the bone out. I first started experiancing pain a month or so after shoveling yards and yards of stone for my landscaping. I always blamed my pain on the shoveling or painting I was doing at the time but after the tumor was found I was told that was the culprit. Now I am finding out that i may have been right all along.

Just a simple x ray will tell things that an MRI won't. I went for more x rays today and will hopefully hear back from the chiro or the neuro surgeon at the beginning of the week.

Betty... .My neck pops when I turn it too. It is very annoying and feels like bone on bone. The chiro was blaming it on my disc problem but now it looks like it could be this. If at all possible ask your dr. for a simple x ray.. sometimes thats all you need.

I have been experiancing all sorts of issues with vision, hearing, dizzyness etc that everyone says shouldn't be from the tumor and now am wondering if this broken bone is causing everything and the tumor was just found accidently. Weird how things happen.

Just having a bad night too. Very upset and depressed at the thought of going through another surgery but really wanting to feel better too.

while it will probably be another surgical procedure I wonder if this could be done lapriscopically. if all they need to do is remove small bone pieces, they should be able to do this minimally invasively.

I know how you feel. My lot would not allow an x-ray not cost effective for Sciatica they said. X-ray proved damage to lower spine they said. But note is placed on all x-rays for man of my age as the Institute of Radiologists want that notice on all x-rays regardless to cover their members they say.

So they decided to MRI mid abdomen to mid thigh as problem probably in lumbar area. But they don't tell me. Luckily I persuaded technician to move start point 6" to cover my highly inflamed liver rather than my thigh. My GP thought the inflamed liver indicated I was a alcoholic. So much for his bedside manner and medical degree.

So C Neurosurgeon says the 1/2" error (6" to me) luckily showed tumour in thoracic spine. Had that tumour not been found NS would not have seen me no op etc. NS says he would have seen we within 3 to 5 years as emergency but I would not have walked again as for previous experience. I do not know how many SCT he has dealt with.

I asked about full body MRI, not necessary as symptoms do not indicate etc. I ask what about 1/2" (6") error no answer. Enhanced MRI image shows small tumour in Lumbar area. Six months latter this second tumour added to my medical record as medical team have been 'debating' or should that be disputing second tumour.

Not to worry second tumour unlikely to harm me for 5 years they say. But I am suffering 24/7/365 and am 65.5. Do I have 5 years while they procrastinate and debate???

I have asked for a full body MRI and a PET scan. I am back as in the start when the diagnosis was sciatica despite telling them I had been running up 2,500 ft mountains when the problem came to light. Yes back pleading for them to do something other than procrastinate. But all they can think about is putting me on cheaper drugs. Or thats how it seems to me and they seemingly believe they are saving money. Are they NO but why make a decision when they have 5 years to debate the problem. As for discuss the situation with me no chance I might be able to ask awkward questions.

So now I am awaiting quotation for my own MRI scan in the new type MRI scanner where the body can be scanned standing. I may have to spend my retirement savings but whats the use of savings if you can't benefit from them.

I was told I was obsessed and it was "all in my head" when I argued that it was not sciatica. They could not understand how I could not understand that there was any problem with my spine. The simple fact that I had lived in my body for 64 years was beyond their comprehension. Had I meekly accepted the diagnosis of sciatica where would I be now. So I will keep fighting as I do not know what else to do.

Now that they have proved that there is something wrong with my lower spine what do they do procrastinate.

Lifes hard but it's the only one I have so I will keep trying.

Dawn do you also have like a swollen look on your scapula area on the sides of your incision? That is where my pain is after being on my feet and my husband sais it feels swollen.
So for you I guess you have to see your NS again?

Yes I am always feeling swollen back there. I think it is muscle I am not sure. Just having so many problems not sure what is from what. Just tired of being told I have anxiety. I know the anxiety I feel is from the symptoms not the other way around.

Yes I suppose another visit to the surgeon. I am hopeful he will call soon as I really want some answers. Hoping he can tell me if this thing has been there all along. Strange how things happen.
