Checking in to the boards tonight shows many new people checking us out. That is both good and bad. So many stories of pain. But also so many stories of sharing new things with each other.Lots of support and hope.
I wanted to let everyone know that starting tomorrow and for the next six weeks, I have an internship at a state facility for skilled nursing care less than 10 minutes away from my home. I will be a medical records clerk. Little nervous as this is the end of my schooling and it is completely different than anything I have ever done before. Reading over all the answers in "what you do for a living", I hope to be adding my own comments in the future.
While the internship is unpaid and I still am without a "real" job or medical benefits, I still look forward to finding a niche in the next few months. I also completed my training as a hospice volunteer. I am now okay to work in the office, visit patients and do bereavement groups. So there is still life while you are unemployed.
I hope all of you are having some good days as well... Cindy

Hi Cindylee, I am sooooooooo happy for you and wish you the best of luck. You have certainly been through a lot and you are a true inspiration to the new people visiting the board. I have been checking in on a daily basis and it is sad to see so many new people being diagnosed, but like you, I'm happy they found the site. I'm finding it extremely difficult to stay motivated lately. A friend of mine died last week from complications resulting from a spinal cord injury. And my mri two weeks ago showed something and I have to go see my neurosurgeon. I suddenly lost most of the function in my right hand three weeks ago. So, I'm worried, but I'm still "standing". Anyway, just so you know, I just came in from having coffee outside with my husband and breaking the news to him that I have to see the ns again, because he had been away working and I didn't want him worrying at work. I read your post and I felt so happy for you. You deserve all the best things in life after all you have been through. You must be so excited because this is the first day of a new chapter in your life. Keep us posted because I always love hearing from you. Lynne

Cindylee,
That's wonderful news! It's nice to "say" that here because it shows the positive side of our "new selves".
Thanks for sharing.
