My 24 year old son had an ependymoma that was removed. it started in the mid thoracic area and extended into his caudal equine. after the surgery he developed a cyst in the mid to lower thoracic region. It is not on the upper side of the spine. He has had multiple shunts implanted that have not given him any relief. he sees a pain specialist and is on massive doses of fentanyl and lortab for pain with minimal relief. He still has neurological symptoms ranging from nerve pain to urinary retention, to lower extremity weakness. It is getting worse daily. He will be in a wheelchair again soon. Could you please lead me to a very qualified doctor. Location does not matter. The neo surgeon he has does not know what else he can do. My son has medicaid now but will have medicare in Feb. We found out last week his tumor is back also. He is a good boy, my little hero.

I am so sorry to hear about your son! You asked if anyone could recommend a good Dr. I can tell you that my Dr. Mark Lee did my surgery and he is very skilled and has the most current equipment available. He is located in Augusta, GA and operates out of MCG Hospital. I hope that helps, let me know if you would like the number.

Another AMAZING doctor would be Dr.Jallo at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Md. Most people on this site will say the same. This site is how I found him and I am so very happy I did.

My daughter also saw Dr. George Jallo at JHU. He will do more difficult cases. He does pediatrics and adults. He will do consultations by email and you ship him your films. He can then suggest whether or not he might be able to help.
