Dr. F. David Barranco, Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, AZ was fabulous. Here's his bio. www.bnaneuro.net/Pages/Docs/DrBarranco.htmlDr. Barranco really listened to me and answered all the hard questions without hesitation. He was meticulous and very thorough. My family said that after the 11-hour surgery when he came to talk to them about how the surgery went, he seemed invigorated -- at 1:00 in the morning! That says to me that he's a doctor that loves what he does! Barrow is a teaching hospital for neurosurgeons. Each case goes before a "Tumor Board" where the details are discussed in front of a panel of world-class neurosurgeons -- to make sure that nothing is missed or overlooked by just one doctor. The facility is fabulous! They are a hospital that has surgery suites dedicated specifically for spinal surgeries. I highly recommend Dr. Barranco and Barrow Neurological Institute/St. Joseph's Hospital.

Dr. Barranco is the Best.......He operated on my sister for 9 hours to remove a tumor that was located at the tip of her spinal column. This was in the mid 1990's. The tumor was intertwined with her spinal nerves, but 6 wks of radiation took care of what wasnt safe for him to remove surgically. When came pregnant, a year later, she was able to carry full term and delivered naturally. Because of the surgery she could not have an epidural, but she was happy about that afterward. Dr. Barranco did such a great job with her that It was easy for her to ignore his advice for periodical check ups over the years. He warned her that the tumor could grow back and we are pretty sure it has with vengeance. Her symptoms came on fast. I came accross this page while searching for Doctor Barranco for her. She no longer lives in Phoenix but would rather travel then see anyone else. . I hope this is helpful to someone who may be facing this type of surgery.
