This is a funny story. I dont have the heavy feeling in my legs but they are numb feeling.
I was walking down the hall in my house and all of the sudden my legs felt heavy. I was in some really baggy sweatpants so it could not have been the clothes. I made it to the kitchen and the "thump" It was my 18 month old son holding onto my legs for fun and I did not see him because he latched on behind me. I also could not really feel him there with the sensory deficits.
I laughed so hard because I was freaking out on how my legs were not moving like I wanted them to and I thought something was wrong.

HAHAHAHA!! KIDS!! Reminds me of a couple of days before my second surgery, I was exhausted from cleaning the house we had just sold, it was the last chance to do it before settlement so I really pushed myself to finish it. I locked the door for the last time, and my then 14 month old son Cody took off up the road laughing, thinking it was a great joke to run away from Mum. I couldn't make my legs work fast enough to catch him!!! Luckily he only made it about 25 metres before he fell over on the grass and I was able to catch up to him. If he'd been much older and a better runner I doubt I'd have caught him in a hurry!

That is funny!! I back into stuff all the time without knowing what I'm hitting. I know what you mean about the leg sensation, or loss thereof. I substitute teach a lot and the little kids will try and climb up into my lap, and that's hard because my legs don't feel them securely enough for me to feel like they won't just fall off of my lap!!!
