Those under going the use of botox for spasticity and can walk with some kind of assisted device eg. a cane. Do the injections made that particular muscle group weaker hence making it harder to walk/ stand.

Botox...making my left calf younger, smoother and unable to express emotion LOL. I am giving Botox another try on Friday, my first round did little to help with my tone so we are going to increase the dose and see if it helps this time. I, like Lynne, have difficulty putting my heel on the floor in what I have now dubbed my "Barbie foot". What I do know about Botox is that it can cause muscle weakness which may affect walking ability, but not everybody experiences this. My first round did not affect my muscle strength, but again did not really improve the tone either. This is a drug that you have to decide if you can live with the consequences for the next three months.... my situation is throwing my whole gait and body out of alignment so I have to give it a shot (that's punny) and hope for the best outcome.

Hi Tony, I have had botox injected in my left leg three months ago, and although I'm not walking, I'm standing on my own now. I don't feel that it made my leg weaker, it feels strong. It really helped with the tone and spasticity and I can't wait for the next one as I can tell this one is starting to wear off. It only lasts 3 mos. If you do get it done, its good to do muscle stim on that area twice a day to really get the max effect of the botox. Let us know if you try it, I highly recommend it, it's my new best friend.
