Yeah!!!!!!!!!!
Today Oct 12, 08 I rode my bicycle for the first time since surgery!!!! For the first time in 3 1/2 years, due to misdiagnosed leg problems!!!
I only made it up the street a little ways and back a few times, but I DID IT! Turns were very wobbly and it was hard to tell were my feet were, my knees ached and my leg muscles, well let's just say my leg muscles are still on vacation.
We must have made quite a sight! My very overweight self wobbling on my old trusty mountain bike, with my trim husband running along side of me. He was determined to be there to help in case I fell.
We tried to get me on my bike about a month ago, no go. I just couldn't lift my leg high enough and maintain my balance at the same time. My precious husband even took the seat off my bike (quick release) and we kinda slid the bike between my legs. Even with that my brain just couldn't make the connection for leg coordination and balance.
But today the old (or new) synapses fired! Praise God! ;D
In my twenties I used to be a cross country cyclist. So being able to regain a little (even if the distance was less than a few hundred feet) was a small taste of "normal" and "freedom" for me.
Hope I didn't bore you guys, but your the only ones who really understand what this journey is like.
Thanks for listening
I Pray that each and every one of you will experience days (weeks, months, years) like I had today. Days when you can regain something you love to do, despite the disability you may be left with.
May God Grant each of you his Peace and Grace,
Day ;D
