Hi everyone, My family recently found out that my 50 yr. old brothers' cancer has spread to his lymph nodes, spleen, liver and lungs. I can't tell you how overcome with grief that we all are. In support of what he is going through I wear a red rubber bracelet for cancer on my wrist. This made me wonder about whether we could get a bracelet made up with our own color with SCTA printed on it. This is a way to have people become aware of our tumors and might help people that may have one or know someone who does and doesn't know where to turn. What does everyone think about this idea? Barb

Barb, I'm very sorry to hear of your brothers cancer. I wish him luck in his battle ahead. I think that the SCTA wrist bands is a wonderful idea. We see the support for everything from Autism to brain tumors but nothing for Spinal tumors. Sign me up for at least a dozen!!!!!

Barb, I am so sorry to hear this about your brother. 50 is way to young for all this to happen. If you want to look into some online support for cancer, try the Cancer Survivors Network. They have chat rooms and boards similiar to ours. There are also caregiving and emotional support boards. It's always good to hear from others in the same situation. And you might be able to pick up some information that could help your brother or your family.
I also would LOVE to have an SCTA bracelet. But in what color? Maybe purple or a really royal color for all of us who do battle. Or even a white one with our logo on it. They have loads of cheapies on the Ebay site and you can get them engraved with what ever you want. I think they would be wonderful for awareness. Cindy

Barb, I too am really sorry for you and your family for your brother's diagnosis. I have a 50 year old brother too and I can't imagine how I would feel to get news like that. I'll remember to say a prayer for him. I think bracelets are a good idea (even though I already wear a commemorative zipper on the back my neck every day!) I wanted to get a piercing and put a zipper pull at one end. Just kidding. I didn't realize you could buy blanks on eBay. I'll give buy some and give them to everyone for Christmas. Susan

I'm really sorry about your brother Barb, I have a sister who has been fighting breast cancer for several years. I hope there is hope.

Barb, so sorry to hear about your brother. I'll be praying for your family. I like the wrist band thing. Indigo blue is my favorite...but might not stand out very good. I too wear a commemorative zipper on the back of my neck and shoulder area. I laughed when I read that some one else calls it this. I told my Grandchildren that it's my zipper. I unzip it and my former skinny self steps out. Ya shoulda seen their eyes! Day

Thanks everyone for your support. As far as the bracelets go, the cancer one that I have was picked up at the cancer hospital here in Buffalo. Great idea, Cindy, I think that I will look online or ebay for who makes these bracelets and get one printed up with SCTA on it. Barb

Barb -
First of all, I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Please keep us posted and know that we all care.
As for the bracelets - my guess is that the SCTA could make a little money if they got a bunch made and sold them at a profit. Not hugely expensive, but enough to more than cover cost of making and shipping.
And I do like the thought of a deep purple or other royal color as are battle color...

Hey Barb My sentiments also for your brother. Sorry.
I love the idea for a bracelet--what about the blue color used on the SCTA logo? Maybe our fearless leaders will invest some SCTA money in making these, and sell them like they do the t-shirts and sweatshirts... Please take care Joel
