I'm forty and my doctor will not give it to because of the risk of stroke but I really want it.

I've never used it but had a roommate in college who swore by it. The thought of never having a period again is wonderful but I can't imagine that it's terribly good for you. We have those stupid things for a reason. I haven't read to many positive things about its long term effects such as bone density loss and the risk of stroke doesn't sound to good either. As with all new drugs make sure to research it well!!
