Hi all,
We have been talking at the last 2 board meetings about our conferences and it has come time for us to make a few changes and our conferences was one of them. So tonight we voted anonymously to have the next conference in 3 years but if we see we are able to do it sooner than that then we would.
The reason for this decision economy is bad right now and it doesn't look like it going get any better any time soon but you never know. Cost of the conferences is not cheap and we would like to have some fundraisers to help on the cost so we can keep registration fee down. Our conferences take alot of time and work and this keeps SCTA from doing some of the things we would like to accomplish so in the next 2 years we hope to be able to do more but still educate through our teleconferences and video through Youtube.
We hope everyone will want to look around on the forum to see where everyone is located and have get together near you so you can meet, talk, share stories and maybe even sometime form some kind of fundraiser to help SCTA pay for some of these projects.
I know some may be upset with this news but we felt like this was the best way to go and we will still be educating everyone over the next 2 years and before you know it, it will be time for the next conference.
In 2005 we in NW Florida/Alabama met with other sct survivors in Panama City, FL and had a great time. We even had one sct survivor come down from GA with his family. We were able to find a restaurant that didn't charge for a seperate room and here we were able to get away from the crowd and just have lunch then when we we were through we went around the room to let each person share their personal story. We haven't met since then but if anyone wants to do it again I am willing to travel the distance again. You can have alot of fun with these weekend afternoon get together just as well as these conferences so please think about doing them in the next 2 years.
