Hi all - I hope many of you have seen this already on the main web page, but I wanted to be sure that everyone knows about the Chance For Life Fundraiser, to be held Saturday, Feb. 16, in Washington, DC, to benefit the Spinal Cord Tumor Association, Inc.
This is going to be a very exciting event, which will include a charity poker tournament, wine tasting, and an after-party. There will be many fantastic prizes, as well as fun for all. You can attend all three, or pick and choose which to attend. Here's the link to find out more: www.chanceforlife.net
Jeff Snyder, father of spinal cord tumor survivor Kennedy Snyder (you can find her story in the archives of the spotlight stories), is the brains and genius behind the fundraiser. We all know Jeff has been a tireless advocate for his daughter and a great friend to the Spinal Cord Tumor Association. This is his third year to have the fundraiser, and the first for our group to be a beneficiary. SCTA is planning to use the bulk of the funds to fund spinal cord tumor research, something we haven't been able to afford before now; we are also hoping to use a smaller portion to help offset the costs of the conference, and of course to just keep up all the good work that Linda, Robert, and so many others do (on a completely volunteer basis!).
This fundraiser is a big step for us - we have always been an extremely low-budget organization (which is why we've never been able to help with research), and this is a real chance for us to grow and, through growth, expand our activities and bring us all closer to a cure!
So particularly if you are, or know anyone who is, in the DC area, please help us make this event a success. Again, here's the website:
