Hi,
I had a schwannoma removed 20+ years ago, except for some tingling and numbness on my right arm I completely recovered. The tumor was just below my neck. Now it is back with a vengeance and is C7 to T3. They will have to remove more lamina (I had 3 out in first surgery) and rib bone this time. The tumor is large and wrapped around the cord. The part on the front of the cord is the most difficult to get to. They aren't sure if they are going to get the whole thing, which would mean radiation later. The neurosurgeon who did my first surgery said this surgery will be much more difficult and recovery much more difficult. I got a second opinion from a doctor who is more positive.
What my question is, is there anyone out there who has had this happen?... A recurrence many years later and how did you do? Doctor says the scar tissue is going to make surgery more difficult and I am very scared of paralysis.
Thank you in advance. Cat

So sorry to hear, I was just wondering over the years did you have regular MRI's?
