Hi everyone! Long story short, my husband was diagywith an ependymoma “intramural” C2-T2 in October of 2015. Back then it measured 8mm. Last March I convinced him to get it checked and it grew to 111mm. He has yet to have surgery and is refusing ALL care or advice at this point. He doesn’t take pain meds, has muscle weakness, difficulty urinating, off balance, muscle wasting, and now is with spinal headaches. He’s able to function independently but his affect is terrible. Quality of life is terrible. I’m watching him deteriorate.
My question is: does anyone know of someone that has had an ependymoma grow to be so large and do fine without surgery?? We’ve been to 4 Neurosurgeons who all insisted that he needed it removed ASAP before he ends up being a quadraplegic or completely be put on a respirator. Thanks

I'm really glad that they found the tumor inside my spine and removed it right away. The tumor in my spine had been slowly growing for 20 years. It started at Tll and went clear down and out the bottom of my spine. If it had gone one more they said then it would have paralyzed me from the waste down. I can still walk but with a full leg brace because most of my right leg didn't work after surgery. I was stubborn for years dealing with back pain and weak swollen ankles. Once I found out what had been causing all my problems for all those years I had no problem with going under to attack it. I hope he realizes you and your family care and that he seeks the medical attention that he needs.

Fam
For your husband...
I have a c4/5 1.8 cm t2bright. I’m not waiting for it to continue interrupting my life, I’m going to do everything I can to fix it. Dear Sir, please go and see your doctor, get the operation, find alternative therapies and google your symptoms and test results.
There are many paths to follow.
The one path not to follow is to be idle, surrender or stand still.
I wish your family every success and the best of luck.
Ps
I’m also known as Grampy Bob. I keep that in mind always.
