Hello,
This is in regards to my husband.... a little back ground: He has a 2 level fusion l4/l5 l5/s1 just come 5 years ago now. He was in desperate need for the surgery but it was a 2 year fight (longer story) ever since the surgery he has pain- somewhere. But for a over a year now his thoracic area is causing severe pain. So about a month ago he had an Mri. It stated that he has a 10 mm intraosseous meningioma suspected posteriorly at T7 and 8mm interosseous hemangioma at T5 (this is taken directly from Mri) He also has a hemangioma on the left side of his sacrum that was found in 2014
I took him to a neurosurgeon that specializes in spine tumors...he basically blew us of. He said that meningioma does not cause pain. I do not know what he thought we were there for.... I don't understand. They only thing he did say that there were multiple meningioma ( which I could see several white spots on his spine) and go to physical therapy. Which he was/is already doing because hes in so much pain. Now, I am very concerned for him...here are his symptoms which make me think its not meningioma or hemangiomas....
*Pain that wakes him at night/or keeps him from sleeping
*Worse pain in the AM
*Says it hurts to breathe sometimes- this is in the am
*has lost 30 pounds +/- in over a year now. I noticed the weight loss in his face in 10/2016 and its still that way. Hes 6'2 and last I saw at the Dr with him he was 156lbs...3 weeks prior to the family doctor for the mri referral he was 159. So in 3 weeks he had lost 3 more lbs.
*Decreased appetite- I eat more than he does
Oh and the mri also said he has a 1.8 cm mass on right kidney, suspected cyst need ultra sound to further characterize. The best part about this is- his pain mgt doctor told him he was probably born with the cyst....what- really- didn't tell him to get it checked out nothing....not a care in the world about it. So my husband thinks bc a dr told him its fine...then its fine. Geezzzz
So my question is- anyone with meningioma or hemangioma have/had any of the issues or did they in fact cause pain? The back pain does not go away at all-ever-period. I can not get him to back to another doctor now and the one that did his surgery does not take his insurance. Please let me know if anyone with these tumors have the same experience.
Thank you so much for your help.
