Lately I have been feeling very exhausted and frustrated. I enjoy my job but I feel that to take care of myself and family I need to be home more. When I'm home, all I do is sleep because then I don't feel all the pain which as everyone participating on this forum knows, is horrible. I was wondering how many of you work outside the home? how can you stay so active with the pain? Seriously, the thought of activity just exhausts me. I know a lot of this is mental, but I really feel there is not much of my positive thought bank left. Lately I wish I had just gone out on disability..how do you manage to do all of "this" on addition to everyday living?

Dear Kathy,
What you mentioned is totally true. Since the pain cant be seen by other, the governments in my country isn't providing and commercial help or special salary for the people like us. I am a person typically like you, if I stay home relaxed with no activity, they will be no pain. I suffer last 8 years because of pain and working in parallel, I have family and if I stay home we will end on the road....I am force to struggle with pain in my daily activity Work. My advice to you is to change life style, explain to others your situation. Still 10% of people are humanized and can understand and you may reach a deal to work next to house somewhere, so you try to hesitate long travel. Another tip is to cut out your day, go home at 12:00, have rest than come back at 3:00 to work another 3 to 4 hours. You have to follow your body power or else it a life sucks. Which you day pain free. You need more support and tips for easy life, I am here to support. Best regrads

Kathi - I tried working after my surgery and eventually had to go out on disability and eventually take an early retirement. This was a very difficult decision since we left vex my work and had been with the same employer for almost 38 years. Between the pain and meds o just could not function at the level necessary to continue working. It has s so hard to explain the pain to people. When they look at you they can't see the pain you're dealing with, they just have to take your word for it. I wish you the best of luck in whatever decision you make. It's not easy or one to be taken lightly.

I had to take disability. My arms and hands are so weak and numb, I can barely lift my arms. My hands are weak. So, it is hard to hold onto things. I can't open jars, bags, buttons, zippers, put on a coat or shirt, tie my shoes. I use special forks and spoons with built up handles to eat. I would rather work, but it seems everything is difficult or impossible. Even in my case, which is bad. I was denied disability the first try. I've been told that it is common for Social Security to deny disability income on the first try. So, do not be discouraged and try again if you need to.
