I am four weeks post surgery of a myxopapillary ependymoma at L3 and L4. Shortly after being discharged I was diagnosed with a spinal leak. I was put on bed rest and wore an abdominal binder for several days. The intracranial headache subsided and I thought I was in the clear so I started physical therapy. At my checkup with my Dr after three weeks he said that I still have spinal fluid buildup around my incision so he put me back on bedrest and wearing the binder. He also stated that he had never ordered the in home physical therapy and that I shouldn't have been doing it. I am now worried that this leak will not heal without intervention. My daughter is getting married in the Dominican May 8th and I really want to be there. Please tell me someone else has had this happen and there is hope for healing still.

Sorry to hear it, those are the most awful headaches ever. Not being able to get out of the bed and then laying there with toes higher than head really sucks. I had a CSF leak soon after surgery and then a blood patch to fix it, and then about a week later unfortunately had another leak and needed another blood patch. Hope things are getting better for you.
