I had a meningioma removed on June 14, 2016. It was a shock and surgery was immediate as paralysis was setting in. I was 82 at the time. After extensive rehab I am doing quite well. Just seem to need alot of rest but that be because of my age.

Hi. I just found this group and joined today. I had an intradural spinal meningioma T5,T6 and T7 and surgery to remove it June 2010. I'd be happy to chat and share experiences.

hi again. I had surgery to remove mine T7/8 in June 16. The Surgery went well but overall recovery is still ongoing 5 months later. I had another MRI and no sign of tumour returning so far which is great. Next scan in march 17.
I have struggled to find other people with the same thing so any information about recovery is welcome. Overall I am well but can't sit , stand or walk for long . Is this likely to resolve eventually? Any ideas.

Hi I had a meningioma removed from my thoracic spinal cord T3-T4 this past October 06,16. I still experience quite a bit of pain at times. I feel like I have a hard plate in my back and am carrying a backpack most days.I still have deep bruising appearing around outside perimeter of my incision. My neurosurgeon told me upon release from the hospital, and as soon as I was able to get up and around he wanted me to shoot for walking at least a mile per day and to stay active. Some days seem impossible and others not so bad.

I live in Spain and from early this year was having all sorts of pain in my right leg and foot with increasing numbness. In addition had pain in my abdomin right side also in my back but that could have been due to herniated discs. After about three misdiagnosis a consultant rheumatologist staed problem was definitely not rheumatics/sciatica but a neurological problem. Admitted to Santa Lucia hospital in Cartagena for extensive testing and they discovered a spinal meningioma. No neurosurgeons in this hospital so referred to a neurosurgeon in Arrixaca hospital in Murcia. By this time similar symptoms starting in left leg and have great difficulty walking and using stairs, having to use a walking stick. Finally on 15th September 2017 had an operation which lasted 7 hours. Surgery was difficult as the meningioma had calcified but successful with 90% function restored in right leg and most of the pre-op pain gone. Still have a lot of pain from the incision area and a feeling like a steel plate in my back although smaller than immediately after the surgery. Can fault the actual surgeons but the fter care and advice is pretty poor, apparently typical of Spain. Does anyone have any advice of what to avoid doing and what beneficial action to take.

I am two years post resection of a calcified spinal meningioma a T3-T4. I still have nights where I feel like someone has put a wooden paddle in the middle of my back and my arms are still weak. I can deal with the fact that I lost some of the sensation in my right leg but I still struggle with my loss of energy. Does anyone else have the back pain or have you had it and does it get better?

I have recently had a benign meningioma removed from my t12 l1 section of my spinal chord. I had it removed December I underwent rehab for all of December. The neurosurgeon team I worked with gave no indication that I would need rehab or be in pain for such a long time after. One even said I could go home the next day. I still require a norspan patch, tramadol, lyrica, paracetamol, and magnesium for horrible cramping and spasms. When will it end 😩 My scar is 16cm long and I just feel like they aren't telling me something.
I'm so over it. I'm over the pain. The numbness. The effort that is life right now. I'm 34 and have a 1 and 2 year old and I'm just so exhausted. I feel like nobody understands. Sorry for the pity party just feel like I needed to get it out.

I too had a benign meningioma removed from my t2-t4 on Apri1 18, which was 90% wrapped around my spinal cord. I had been misdiagnosed for years and had back pain/numbness in both legs, along with being unable to walk, by the time I had surgery. I went through inpatient rehab and am still in outpatient rehab. In June, I had a cerebrospinal fluid leak as a result of the surgery and was hospitalized for 10 days for a lumbar drain, which appears to have solved the problem. I initially used a wheelchair, then walker, then cane, and now walk slowly with a slight limp using no aid. I also lack energy and cannot stand or walk for a great deal of time, but can walk my dogs each day for 1/2 hour. I hope to continue making progress.

I came across this forum because I wanted to see what everyone’s post op is like. I just had my spinal meningioma removed Jan 16 of this year from my T6. Closing in on 3 months later I still have really bad back pain. Anyone else? And when does it subside? Other than that I feel normal and I got all of my feeling and sensation back in my legs and feet thankfully! I’m 24 and from the US and I just don’t like my health hindering me from being young and healthy. I also work 2 serving jobs for 6 days of the week and it’s hard on me standing on my feet all day. And I also go to the gym frequently. Am I overdoing? Because it seems like my back is not catching a break.
