I am a 49-year-old woman who is undiagnosed and needs help. Over the past three years I have been seen by four neurologists who scratched their heads and gave me no diagnosis. Other doctors have tried to convince me that my problem is in my head. Meanwhile my symptoms have gotten a lot worse. Now, I am extremely weak: from a woman who, until half a year ago, was going five times/week at Yoga, I have become someone who can barely stand on her feet. My legs, especially, feel very strange and weak. I am only able to do physical therapy now and even that for no more than 15 minutes. My legs feel as if they are made of wood, very strange. At night--every night!--both my hands and feet are getting completely numb, and during the day I have constant weird sensations in my body--burning sensations that move all over, and a feeling as if I am being touched with a cold/wet tip in various places. I have no pain as such--well, actually I do: the muscles in my lower back, the soles of my feet and sometimes the knees--but I am in great discomfort constantly. Also, I have been dizzy since mid-April and have severe insomnia. I would greatly appreciate it if any of you could tell me if my symptoms could be a sign of a spinal cord tumor. Someone told me that I would me in much greater pain if I did have a tumor, but judging from what I read on this site it doesn't always seem to be the case. If any of you would like to send me a private message or call, please let me know.

I had an MRI of the brain and one of the C-spine. Didn't find anything. I wonder if I should have an MRI of the rest of the spine.

Hello there
You really do need to have a full spine MRI to see if there is anything there.
How many docs have you seen?
From what you describe, there must be a reason for the feelings you are having as they are not "normal". Keep pushing for answers. Good luck

Yes, get a full body MRI, I had the same pain and they just said it was a pinched nerve. Then they said MS, I kept pushing until I got the right Dr to really look at me 1.5 years later, I have a tumor in my spinal cord that is pressing on my nerve. I am scheduled to have it removed next week. Demand a MRI with and without contrast of your whole body including your head. If your Dr won't, find another Dr. Where are you located.

Hi I can relate to your symptoms as my legs feel heavy, tingling pins and needles and some numbness, somedays I can barely walk due to the weakness and struggle to lift my legs. I've had these symptoms previously and have been put down to bulging discs or slipped discs. But they have no said I have got a schwannoma on my L2 and it's been there for at least 7 years. This also keeps me awake at night some nights my legs get that tight and go into a spasm which is horrendous. I was told I had no nerve damage years ago and more or less was told there is nothing wrong. Am a nurse and am fully aware of nerve pain and the description.i take pregablin at the min which am increasing my dose as needed. This does help but it's getting the right dose for you. I have great sympathy for you and hope you get some answers soon.
