Just wanted to let people know that Dr. Jallo will be leaving Johns Hopkins sometime this summer and will be taking a position somewhere in Florida. My wife has a follow up appointment in a couple weeks, when we get more info we pass it along.

Thanks for posting this. I have had Dr. Jallo review my MRI and I'm from Florida so this is great news for me.

So Dr. Jallo will be still working for Johns Hopkins but will be at a children's hospital in Florida. He will still be coming back up to hopkins for followup visits and adult surgeries and he will still have same email.

Dr. Jallo was the surgeon I chose to use after I had visited the Cleveland Clinic and the Mayo Clinic over a 5 year period. I had an intramedullary tumor in the C1-2 area and he was very professional and took the time to explain my situation. I had the surgery performed at the Johns Hopkins hospital in Baltimore last October. I was looking for surgeon with his particular skill set who had performed this surgery in cervical region many times and I happy to say it went exactly like he explained it to me. Coincidentally, he told me the exactly what he told another patient in 2003 as I read through the threads about him on this site.
The other surgeon's were less optimistic and with his skills and a great surgical team I am back to work. Recovery after this surgery will take time and you will have some deficit's to endure but he explained all of that to my wife and me in our initial consultation.
He is truly a gifted surgeon and a fine person who is compassionate yet direct and lays out what will be ahead of you as you deal with all of the emotions and pain of not having the same skill sets you once enjoyed.
I was lucky to have found him and I highly recommend him. Recovery is a day to day issue and you will need to keep a positive attitude as this condition will be with you the rest of your life. It does get better and by having a positive attitude you and your family will have a better life.
Prior to any intramedullary tumor surgery I recommend you take the trip to see Dr. Jallo.
All my best to anyone who going through this ordeal as it will be different for each person.

Thanks for this post. It is very encouraging knowing there are good surgeons out there. I am also encouraged that you had successful surgery with a C1 tumor, as I have one in that region. Do you mind saying what your tumor was?
