Ouch, I have just got cystitis which I havent had since I was in my twenties [40 + years ago]... can it be related to the drugs I am on weakening kidney function? [baclofen, gapabentin and warfarin]? Or is it a progression in some way of the spinal cord tumour? Anyone have any thoughts or experience of this? Thanks...

These tumours can wreak havoc on our bladder and bowels as we lose sensation, muscle control etc. I've never had cystitis but I often get what I call 'borderline water infections'. Emptying my bladder is guesswork for me as I can only feel when I need to go when I'm absolutely busting. To avoid any problems I regularly go up to the toilet to check. Quite a few times I've forgotten to go at night and woken up with a really horrible dull pain in my lower stomach. On these occasions I try to flush any bacteria through by drinking plenty of fluids and as yet I haven't had any major disasters. Having said that, one time the pain was really severe and never went away until about 3pm in the afternoon. Just before my operation I completely lost the ability to urinate - this had been slowly building up over about 6 months and had started with me spending my hours lunch break at work trying to go.
I hope you are feeling a bit better now. Did you manage to get something from the chemist?

If you scroll down to the forum entitled "Sexual Function, Bowel & Bladder Issues," you'll see that you're definitely not alone in having problems with an infection of the urinary tract along with your tumor. There definitely seems to be a correlation, I'm afraid. Hope you're feeling better by now!
