I have a tumor at C-6/7, most likely an ependymoma according to Dr. Jallo at Johns Hopkins. Since the tumor is still small and my symptoms are mild, Dr. Jallo said not to have surgery just now. That's my story in a nutshell. My question is: Did anyone with a cervical tumor experience ringing in their ears as an early symptom? Mine started round Spring '06. My tumor was discovered June '07. I had my ears checked and the doctor said that this was just normal aging, but I am suspicious. I had perfect hearing up until that point. I am 100% deaf in one ear since childhood due to mumps or measles, but my other ear has always had perfect hearing and was checked regularly. Because I only have one hearing ear left, I am hoping that this ringing doesn't progress. I am not taking any meds which would cause ringing ears.

Hi,
I had surgery in 2001, partial removal of subependymoma c2-t1, remaining tumor c3-c6. I just started to have ringing in my ears in the last year. I had my hearing checked. It does not interfere with my hearing, just an added nuisance. They have no idea why it rings, beyond interaction with the facial nerves -- doctors won't say it's caused by my tumor because they can't find any spot in the MRI that is obviously responsible for it. fear of malpractice in my opinion.
good luck.

Hi,
I don't get ringing in my ears (my tumor was/is at C1-C3). However, in the last 6 months or so I've started to get a clicking in the right side of my jaw when I eat. As I'm eating it clicks and echoes in my ear and is very off putting. Has anyone experienced this ??

Hi TC,
I have had a cervical tumor C2-T2 and still have a little tumor left and also have experience the ringing in my ears not sure though if that from the tumor. I have had TMJ for years so that where I think that is coming from.
On the old Aimoo forum if you go there and do a search you will see this topic been mention before but from most of the posting it sounds like some medications causes that for some while others it not. I notice you are saying you aren't on any medications so it not that. Have you ever been tested for TMJ?
To Alison it sounds like you might have a sign of TMJ as well. When you open up your mouth does your jaw pop or click?

Hi Linda,
I've just read more about TMJ - I'm a persistent nail biter !! I'm sure this doesn't help, especially as my neck is out of line, I eat with my head in a different position and my head is forced forward with my neck flexing the wrong way.
Cheers for the information - I hadn't heard of it.
