faculty.mdanderson.org/Sujit_Prabhu/Default.asp?SNID=0www.mdanderson.org/patient-and-cancer-information/cancer-information/cancer-types/spinal-tumors/index.htmlDr. Prabhu and two other MD Anderson Neurosurgeons, Drs. McCutcheon and Ziu, successfully resected an intramedullary hemangioblastoma from the C7 area of my spine on August 23, 2012. I was on my feet the next day and discharged within six days. The care at MD Anderson from the parking lot to discharge is exceptional. Remember though, a patient still has a significant role in communicating with the health care team. That is, therapists and others quickly move in following surgery to begin rehabilitation. Be sure to discuss any exercises that they recommend with you neurosurgeon before starting. Communication is key. You do not want the delicate work performed to be jeopardized. I hope this helps someone out there...certainly feel that I made the best choice. Good luck to all of you.

I am newly diagnosed with a C2-3 ependymoma, an incidental finding on MRI for osteoporotic compression fracture follow-up, Saw Dr. Prabhu at MD Anderson Oct. 2013. No neurologic compromise at this point. Watchful observation for symptoms and waiting with 4 month follow-up MRI at Anderson where care and evaluation was super. Surprised and overwhelmed as it suddenly "came out of left field." Concerned about making the best choice.

Winnie,
It has been some time since I logged on to the site. I know very well your concerns and feel you made an excellent choice in Dr.Prabhu and the MD Anderson Brain and Spinal Center. I am still doing well and will follow up with Dr. Prabhu this month. I have tingling sensations that make me fear the tumor is coming back, and then the sensations just stop as quickly as they started. It is high anxiety time when this happens, but I have grown to place my faith in God and my doctors who are his instruments. Stay strong and, I wish you all of the best.
