Glad to have found this site. I was diagnosed with a schwannoma in my lower spinal cord in May of this year. It wasn't until 4 days after surgery that was told it was a ganglioglioma. I had severe back pain that shot down both legs with intermittent sharp electrical shocks. I also had pain in the buttocks that felt as if my tail bone was broken. I previously had months of treatments at the chiropractor and was told that one leg was shorter than the other. Finally went for an MRI anticipating a bulging disc only to find out I had a tumor. I had surgery with two weeks and my life hasn't been the same since. I had no sensation in the "saddle" with numbness also in my left heal and left thigh. I went home from the hospital with catheters as I wasn't able to void. A week and a half later was able to urinate by pushing, but have since been told that is dangerous to the bladder. It has been 6 weeks and I am still pushing, refuse to go back to catheters. My numbness is decreasing but not as fast as I would like. In reading other posts, though, I see that this could be a long process.

I am so sorry to hear of the problems you've been experiencing since your surgery. It sounds like you have been through a lot in a short amount of time!
I think people on these forums tend to check the General Forum most often, so you'll probably get more people reading & responding if you repost your introduction there. There are many helpful people here who have been through similar situations, and who will hopefully be able to give you some support & guidance. I haven't had surgery for my tumor yet, so I can only relay that I've read from others here that post-surgery deficits can slowly get better for quite a long time after the surgery.

Dear Kandrew,
If u still have access to this threat, please tell us about your case. Any improvements, any healings. Your personal experience can help a lot of people to take decision for resecting their tumors including me. What was the risk before surgery given by Doctor. These was expected results. You were forced to go for surgery or you just choose to go into? Now 2 years later, I will be lucky if you still have a check on this threat.
thanks
