My friend recommended this site as we are new to spinal cord issues. My 16 y/o daughter was just diagnosed with a syrnix via MRI between c-6 and c-7. She had headaches, neck pain, and pain and weakness in her arm. That pain is tolerable but for a week now she has had pain (rated a 6 on a scale of 1-10) in her lower back on her spine. Along with the pain came tingling in her feet and one of her knees. Her neurologist wants to wait to order a lumbar MRI until she sees the neurosurgeon on jan 18th, for the consult regarding the syrinx finding. Is it normal for the pain to move, and suddenly regarding spinal tumors? Has anyone had a situation like this? Or do you think it is unrelated? Pain meds aren't touching the pain.

Your daughter should have a full spine MRI and a brain MRI. Especially at her young age, I think they (the doctors and insurance) should be very willing to check everything. This should be done before she sees the neurosurgeon so that he/she can check everywhere for a tumor or other spine problem. To answer one of your questions, a tumor at C-6/7 can definitely cause tingling in feet and knees (answering from personal experience). Teresa
