Enforcement of Guidelines: Forum Moderators reserve the right to edit, lock or delete a thread/post that they consider offensive or otherwise in violation of these Guidelines. The current moderator has complete authority to make the initial decision to take any of these actions, or other actions necessary - in the moderator's opinion - to ensure that these Guidelines are complied with. However, any person whose post is directly affected by the moderator's actions, or who believes him/her self to be directly affected by the moderator's failure to act, may appeal that decision to the Bulletin Board Appeals Committee ("Committee"), created on July 9, 2006. Any person who believes him / herself to be directly affected by the moderator's actions or failure to act must first send a request for action directly to the moderator before appealing to the Committee. If this request does not resolve the situation, an appeal should be made by sending an e-mail to the current Chair of the SCTA Board of Directors. Bulletin Board Appeals Committee Procedures Absent extraordinary circumstances (to be determined by the Committee) an appeal must be made within one week of the action or omission at issue. The Committee will consist of 3 directors from the SCTA, inc., Board of Directors and, when possible, one alternate director. No member or alternate member of the Committee will be a then-moderator on the Forum. There will be no firm deadline for when the Committee must meet. However, when an appeal is received, the Committee should seek to meet as soon as practicable, in most cases within 72 hours. If, for any reason, one of the regular members of the Committee cannot meet within 72 hours, then the alternate member (if there is an alternate member at the time) should be requested to meet instead. The Committee will review and may affirm, reverse, or modify the moderator's decision. The Committee will notify the appealing party of its decision in writing (which may be by e-mail), and it may, but is not required to, provide the reasoning for its decision in the same or a subsequent writing. In reviewing the moderator's decision, the Committee should consider the Bylaws and Mission Statement of SCTA, as well as the Discussion Board Guidelines.
