Cymbalta Evil or not

I finally decided to wean of Cymbalta with the help of my doctor.

OH MY!!! the withdrawls are horrible. I feel so bad that I have been coming home for work early because I just cant get it together.

I used this drug at the adviced of a psychologist as I was having such a tough time after surgery. If I would have known that this drug was this hard to come off of I might have thought differently.

I think we should do what our doctors want us to do. Cymbalta is a great drug. Cymbalta is in that tri-cycl class of pharmaceuticals and is helping many people with chronic pain. Why did you and your doctor decide it was time to stop using it? Interesting you say you cant get it together.... get what together? I am dosing with 120mg per....absolutely no problems or side effects to date. Are you ramping down as suggested by the manufacture? Please be careful and let your doctor know of ALL adverse side effects by placing a phone call into his or her office/clinic. How long did you dose with cymbalta??

I dont have any nerve Pain. My pains are muscular in nature. I was on the Cymbalta for depression after my surgery and I have been ramping down. I have been on it for over a year now. What the doctors do not tell you is that if you are ever switched or taken off this drug withdrawl symptoms are fierce. If you google Withdrawl symptoms for Cymbalta you will return 100 of thousands of results.

It must be difficult to try and get off the drug. You are facing a double whammy of facing your symptoms without the drug and handling the symptoms of withdrawal.

You will need every ounce of inner strength you can muster to succeed.

I do know one thing is that I will be more careful when my doctor prescribes medication as I will need to look more closely at the risks. I was in need of help and it did the trick but now all I want to do is get off of this drug and it feels like it wont let me. Kind of like being addicted to a narcotic and cant let it go.

I was on Cymbalta for about a year. I dont remember the dosage but I came off of it because of pregnancy.... otherwise I would not have gotten off of it. But I panicked and stopped the cymbalta cold turkey...oh boy was I in bad shape. My doctor was not happy and I knew better then to do this but like I said... I panicked. Anyways I understand what you are going through. Good luck and know that soon the side effects should subside. It took me about 2 weeks to get over the side effects of withdrawl.

I am hoping you are doing much better since your initial post about Cymbalta. I am still not off this medication. Let's see it has been 3 years now. Right after surgery they doubled my dose like you in a way to combat depression. It was originally prescribed for pain management. I decided to act a fool as so many of us do and take myself back to original dose of 60 mg a day from 120 mg. And you took the words right out of my mouth I could not get it together.

What a mess. But yes that too passed. Maybe the topic for the post should be medicines Evil or Not as I am now finding out ALL have their pitfalls.

Wishing life for you has settled some and excited for your big decision.

I am happy to report I am anti-depressant free! I am doing good and feel good mentally but physically still the same. Hey better than being 0-2

I am also weaning from
cymbalta. I had delayed ejaculation, and sometimes not even that. I'm currently using 1oomg of desimipramine and decrease Cymbalta from 60 to 30. I really like everything about
Cymbalta except that.

I did have a decrease in a sex drive and also had alot of night sweats but the main side effect was weight gain. I was hungry all of the time. These side effects are now gone.
