Give you the short story, Stage 2 Epend between t3 and t4. Had it resected in the 08. It's back, took me over a year to walk again and almost four years to work again. Numb spots on back, side (feels like a runners stitch) and significant back pain and am considered a partial paraplegic altered sensation and weakness from thighs down.
Has anyone seen a study proving the benefits of radiation on these? Has anyone had a second surgery and how bad was the nerve damage the second time around... I really don't know if I can go through this again.

Was the tumor completely resected in the first surgery? When did you first come to know the tumor has grown back what is the size of the tumor now? Is it at the same location as the earlier? what symptoms do you have currently?

They lost the signal they were tied into in my legs late in the surgery. So they hurried up and finished. There was a small sliver of what could have been scar tissue or tumor. That has started growing over the last year and a half and grew 3mm over 6 months. I had no recurrence for six years. I have numbness, tingling and aching electrical pain that's gotten worse lately. It's hard to tell because I am on my feet fifty hours a week so I'm always in a good bit of pain. But I've been having problems with my feet being sore and felt like muscles were pulled.

I'm now having a recurrence of a new mass after my MRI was clean for 2 1/2 years. I had 2 thoracic Ependymomas at the same time (one removed Dec 1 2013, one removed Jan 7 2014) gross total resection follow by a month of radiation. The new mass is at L4 and it's 8mm.
