a spinal cord Tumor on Tuesday all I know that it is my lower spine. However I wasn't given any real information on what type I have. But I need surgery in the next two weeks so have set a date for the 10th of September. However I had a baby 13 weeks ago and cannot find any child care for her as it is to short notice and most of my family members have taken their holidays already. However I've been informed that I can discharge 24 hours after surgery and have a district nurse also home help. Has anyone had any experience of recovery at home so soon after surgery? By the way I am only 19 and I have started suffering from panic attacks that can last for hours at a time!

Wow! Please slow down for a minute. You need to know exactly where your tumor is and what they think it is before you have surgery. Your doctor needs to explain it to you properly so that you understand. I suggest that you get a second opinion before you get operated on by this doctor. It actually worries me that you've been told that you might be able to leave the hospital after 24 hrs. That is NOT possible. No matter how great the outcome is, you will not be able to care for a 13 week old baby. In fact, you will need help for yourself. Are you getting worse? Is there a reason for the rush to surgery? Please tell us where you are from so that someone can point you in the right direction.

You need to know what it is before you let them cut you open. I'm sorry but that's given. You'll be using wooden handicap ramp design after the surgery so get a good one.
