I'm really not sure if my question belongs here, to be honest. A recent MRI found a "hemangioma within C2", but I have not been able to find much information. What I have read is that there is some difference of opinion as to whether this is a vascular malformation or an actual hemangioma. Part of what started this all was when one of my docs noticed a strawberry/purplish red mark - rash like with streaks- and asked me to follow up with my primary about it since it had never been there before. I am able to isolate the timeline because I have to have dermatology checks twice a year due to previous precancerous lesions and a prior basal cell carcinoma. I have also had chronic spine problems (top to bottom) and associated pain for years but have had worsening neck pain with arm symptoms since November. Sorry for the length of my post, but I guess my main question is if a cervical hemangioma could also manifest superficially on the skin...and what are some of the possible symptoms? The neurologist was not able to schedule me until February. I truly appreciate any feedback.

I had a cavernous hemangioma removed from my spinal cord within C2 in Sept 2009. An MRI found it. Prior to that I had burning in my left ear and left side of my neck and head behind my ear. Then it spread to "jolts" in my left hand and arm. This was due to the tumor hemmoraging, I was told. It was beyond tolerable so I opted for the surgery even though it sounded risky. Now all that "jolting" is completely gone, thank God! But I have permanent numbness in those areas that I had the jolts, and I'm somewhat numb from my waist down, with feet spasms which are tolerable. Unfortunately the lower body numbness affected my sex life, which seems to be a normal consequence from what I've read throughout this forum. The tight "band" feeling around my waist and hips seems to have lessened quite a bit since my surgery and is hardly noticeable now. But I do have a lot of muscle tightness and cramping in my neck, shoulders and upper back. Exercise, stretching and massage therapy help. Hope this helps.
