I had severe back pain for months that was misdiagnosed as sciatica and sacroiliac joint dysfunction. I was almost non-functioning when an mri was finally done. I was diagnosed with a tumor surrounding the nerves in my spine. Surgery was done a month later. The lab results concluded it was a Schwannoma tumor. I have recovered well with no physical therapy. I have a series of mri's coming up to make sure regrowth has not started. However, I have had some numbness in my chin and down my left leg. And some pain in my shoulders. The tumor was lower back area. Has anyone else experienced these residual symptoms? Could this be nerve damage? And is it usually permanent?
