Hi, I had an mri on saturday. I made the mistake of getting a copy for myself. I know nothing about reading mri's. I see a round "thing" by the sixth vertebrae down. It has me worried. Has anyone had anything that looks like this? Is it anything I should be concerned about? Thanks www.flickr.com/photos/122623013@N02/13700507173/

Best guess, it looks like a piece of your spine. Are you experiencing SCT symptoms?
On my MRI with contrast and those others that I've seen on this forum, looks like a large white mass on the spinal cord.

I quit looking at my MRIs a long time ago. I had a similar experience where I thought I had something terrible on my MRI and then the neurosurgeon said it looked "great." My advice: don't look and leave it to the professionals.

Thanks for the reply. I am having pain just about where that thing is, then across my shoulder and down my arm. I have numbness in my thumb and index finger. I was thinking maybe it was cyst or something.

Was the MRI done both with & without contrast? I'm not a medical professional, but I'm wondering if perhaps this could be a disc herniation? If you Google "Spinal disc herniation" you can see a sample MRI of one on the Wikipedia page. I'll try to post the link here> en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinal_disc_herniationDisc herniations can also cause neurological symptoms such as numbness and tingling. I would not assume that this is a spinal tumor. My advice is to be sure to get a copy of the radiologist's report when it's complete. Hopefully, that report along with your doctor's advice can give you the answers you're seeking.

Thanks for the replies. jasonohio: I know what you mean. That's why I said it was a mistake. lol landofconfusion: It was done without contrast. I thought about disc herniation but it doesn't really look like anything I've seen on google. I should have the report within a couple days. I'm just anxious.
