22 years old. Diagnosed with a cavernous malformation in my T spine that is 13.5mm in diameter. Currently stationed in Okinawa, Japan due to being active duty military.
I am currently in the process of getting a medical discharge, but still have some time left until the actual thing is done. Trying to find a doctor anywhere in the US that might be able to remove this so that I either will be "fixed" to the best of their ability.
I have read about Dr. Michael T. Lawton at UCSF and Dr. George I. Jallo at Johns Hopkins.
Still trying to find one that will accept my current insurance coverage, and one that will be able to fix this with as little damage as possible.
How was post op for anybody? What should I be expecting after the surgery (if I have it done).

you should see Dr Howard Riina at NYU and Dr Paul McCormick at Columbia. both in NYC - i saw them as I have one in my cervical spine, between 6-7. Riina is aggressive and will want to remove it ASAP. McCormick, he doesnt want mine removed unless it bleeds again but they are both great surgeons if you need it removed. good luck!!!
