Good to meet you Joel and Alison. Joel, I'm now doing my physical therepy on my own at home. It seems to be helping me some, but the progress is very very slow and somewhat dissapointing but I will keep it up anyway. Alison, I will discuss Lyrica also with my Doctor on Wednesday. It's good to know that there are at least, some other avenues to explore for the management of this kind of pain. Last night was a bad one for me. The hypersensitivity in my hand and arm along with the burning in my left arm, would not let me sleep. I'm really looking forward to talking to my Doctor about these other prospects. I really would like him to send me to a pain Doctor but if he can prescribe some lidocaine patches for me to use in the mean time, that would be great!! I haven't read the article yet about the ENM divice, but I definetly will be shortly. Thanks! Tyler

Hey Tyler, just wondering about the hypersensitivityon your arm, if it is as bad as mine is on my stomach. I cant even wear a shirt it hurts to let it touch it or even to blow on it. Is yours like this? -El

Hi El. Yes, if I wear a long sleeve shirt or when I go to bed I have to wrap my arm with an ace bandage, I can't stand the feel of the cloth from my shirt or from the covers of my bed. I even wear a glove to bed. It looks really weird, but it helps. Have you found anything that helps you cope with your hypersensitivity?

Tyler, No, i haven't found anything helpful other than, like you said, an ace bandage. Thats even hard after a while if its hot and i get sweaty/itchy. it feels great to sit there and itch it for a minute, but after that, its pain! I'm trying Ultram for it, but no results yet, if it doesnt go away soon, might try neurontin or something like that.

O.K, O.K. I know i've been saying throughout my other posts, that I'm going to ask my Doctor, about all the other Meds and such that everybody have been suggesting. I'm really going to try, and actually Ultram is one of the meds that I was thinking about, even before I joined the forum. How long have you been on the Ultram? It's a little disheartening to hear that it's not working for you. I think my Doc's going to kick me out of his office today, because I've really got a lot to ask him about. Tyler

Ultram works great for me. It takes the edge off the pain in my hands.

Good to hear it's working for you tmasgio. I just got back from the Doc and he wanted to get me started on Tramadol ( I think that's the generic of Ultram ) as an add on to the neurontin, but asked him if I could try a tens unit first, as an attempt to control things with out more drugs. He said that was fine with him and I'm set up to go in to get one soon. I also was able to get him to prescribe some lidocaine patches for me to try. tmasgio have you ever tried a tens unit or the patches?

I have tried the Lidocaine patches but I tried them to stop the spasms in my back and not so much for pain. It did not work.
