:)i am back. i had my surgery in november. i was in the hospital for a week. they said what i had was a Schwannoma the doc got it all in one piece he said. i woke up, and even though i walked after 48 hrs, well sat anyway. walked later. i was very weak and have been recuperating with the aid of a walker with a seat. i started out walking up and down the hospital corridor and am up to a mile now. i do sit when i get tired but i am doing better than before the surgery. apparently what i thought was arthritis was caused by the tumor. i am still having some inability to control some of my urine and anal muscles. but not taking pain meds as often. of course i have learned to stop doing whatever i am doing when pain starts. i don't have much to say about the experience. the recovery went well i guess. because i have so much wrong with me, it was hard to know what was normal for the recovery. i had and still have a hard time getting out of bed, but that was the way it was before. and it is cold weather so i don't get out except when the temp is above 50. so other than the fact i am not doing my exercises like i should, i know i need to do more. i guess i was fortunate, this was not more serious.

recovery takes a long time. I'm coming up on a year and I still have more pain than I had before surgery. go easy on yourself and it's good new that they got it all and it's not a myx ependy.
you should get into myofascial release therapy as soon as you can. it's critical to your muscles getting back into shape. find a therapist who specialized in this.
take care and keep us updated.
ps. I walked with a walker for a while as well, then I walked with a cane for while. it's good that you are walking. it's one of the best therapy's.

I've been having odd symptoms off & on now for 7 months. It started w/ dizziness, shakiness & arms and hands falling asleep. Saw my pcp & did a CT scan if my head which was - then when dizziness persisted he did an MRI of my head it showed a 8 mm lesion in my right lateral thalamus which could b MS. Saw neuro & he said no MS did MRI of my c-spine which showed c5-6 disc protrusion w/ moderate cord compression which my neuro said was nothing 2 worry about put me on medrol dose pack & sent me to PT. my symptoms have waxed & waned ever since. I've had headaches, brain fog, fatigue, leg tingling, visual probs, concentration probs, and all over muscle twitching. I just had my 6 mo fallow up MRI & my pcp had a full spine done 2 look for other possible MS lesions. My brain, & c spine were the same but a 4 mm focus was seen in my t-spine that is intramural and extramedullary. This was read by a radiologist in a small community hospital. Should I b worried about a brain/ spinal cord tumor? My pcp gpt me in w/ a new neuro @ a large university medical center but they can't c me until the end of july. Just a little nervous. Thanks for any advice.
