Hi Everyone, I know I've read a lot of posts where people take Ultram/Ultracet/Tramadol. Does anyone have any side effects? I've started taking Ultracet 37.5 x5 day about a month ago, two weeks into taking the Ultracet the doc switched me to Ultram 200 ER. They don't help at all but I figured I'd give it a try but since I've been taking it my heart beats really fast so much so that I can hear it and it drives me nuts. I had a panic attack years ago so when I can hear my heart beat I can sooooo talk myself into making it go even faster. I'm so paranoid I swear if it isn't one thing it's something else I'm going to the doc on Tuesday and switch to narcotics to get some kind of pain relief. The insert says that fast/irregular heart beat is an "uncommon" side effect. I stopped taking them because I'm afraid to now. My daughter (if anyone has read any of my other posts you know about my darling daughter ) is gone for the weekend and I'm watching her kids. My paranoia made me stop taking them especially since they are gone all I'd need to do is stroke out when they were gone. It has been nice though I feel free for the first time in a very long time I was just wondering if anyone else had any side effects from taking these pills, and whether it made them stop taking the pills. Thanks

It sounds like you might be getting high off of them, and it also sounds like I might be jealous.

Nah I don't get off of them can't even tell I'm taking them for the most part. Now try being prescribed 160mg of oxycontin a day now that is being high. Actually I was stupid on them and quit them. And yep I'm having a grand weekend as long as I don't move to much, ahhhhhhh the life of freedom even if it is only three days!

Some side affects for me from the Tramadol/Ultram Constipation (bad ) cannot take before bed time (vivid dreams restless) not hungry (I've lost around 20 pounds) I have since had a radio frequency neauroblation and have gone from 350mg a day to about 100.

I know by experience that you should not take Tramadol for longer than you absolutely need to. My neurosurgeon first prescribed Ultram immediately after my tumor resection, and Oycontin and oxycodone. I stopped using oxycontin first and then i got rid of oxycodone, all on my own i must say. What's very important to notice here is that I never even felt a single minute of withdrawal effects even after having taken oxycodone for an entire year. My physiotherapist then change Ultram to Tramadol because Ultram does contain acetaminophen and it could cause liver damage after prolonged use. My experience with Tramadol has been horrible. I used to take 2/50 mg tablets at morning and two at night (200 mg per day). Even though I was told it wasn't addictive I found it to be highly addictive and so do a lot of other people who have innocently tried to just stop using it on their own. After two years of asking my physiotherapist to help me get rid of it and getting abolutely no help, I decided to go to a pain specialist to help me get off of it. I found him to be surprised that i was actually suffering withdrawal symptoms when trying to get rid of it, but he said he would help me. The first thing was to go from pills to liquid because there are no pills smaller than 50 mg. He first tried to do it 10 mg at a time/40 mg per day at 2 week intervals. That was way too much and as a result I only slept 5 hours in three days. So we went to 5 mg per pill/20 mg per day (lowering the dosage 5 mg per pill every two weeks). That seemed to work a little better. I am now down to 35 mg per day after 4 weeks. It's gonna take me another three months to be fully rid of them. If you don't need Ultram just get rid of it immediately!

I have been a friend of Drummer for almost 8 years now. One of the issues that has kept us talking is our spinal problems. We both have scoliosis, pelvic rotation problems, and bulging disks. Unfortunately in 2006, Drummer's Dr's found a tumor on his spine which has changed his whole life. After his surgery, we noticed we were taking some of the same medications. He told me people are always asking for input about certain medications so I thought I could be of some help to some of you. For pain I am taking Lortab 7.5, 3x per day. I went to my Dr. yesterday and she wanted me to try Ultram ER because it is a timed released medication she felt would benefit me more than the Lortab. I am taking 200mg. of Ultram ER and it is taking care of my pain so far. I haven't had any side effects so I'm hoping I don't. Ultram ER is even helping the sensitivity I have on my abdomen. This is a big plus for me because that drives me crazy most of the day. I feel as though I can breathe allot easier also.

The doc changed me to oxycontin 10mg x2 daily. She thought the whole heart thing was in my head and basically rolled her eyes and told me not to read inserts anymore But as soon as I quit taking the Ultram I can't hear my heart beating in my ears anymore and it seems to have slowed down. So there doc! I'm sure it was probably in my head but it worked. I've taken oxycontin before at large doses took all the pain away but I was to stupid, when I stopped taking it the withdrawals (which I'd never seen before) were AWFUL so I'm not real hip to the idea of taking it again. It does seem to help though and for the first time in a very long time my pain is down to an almost managable level for a few hours and that's a godsend. With the Ultram I've never had the constipation problem that most people report, the narcotics are way worse on that degree. It seems though that so far no one has had my symptoms so maybe it was all in my head anyway.
