I would like to see what everybody does for stiffness.
I personally have stiffness from the waist down. I can walk find but I am definitely stiff.
Can anyone share some ideas that have worked for them and have they gotten any better?

acupuncture, massage therapy, baclofen (I took it orally but I eventually got off of it and started using 2000 mg/day of magnesium oxide), stretching, exercise, application of heat (hot pad, hot tub, heated car seats). these things ease my muscles but my musce tightness hasn't significantly improved in the 3 years since my surgery.

Stiffness is worse in the colder months and it never seems to go away. I find some relief through exercise, stretching and swimming.

I agree with Robert, it's worse in the winter months. Streching helps make it feel better but it hasn't healed anymore for me. The constant fatigue is very depressing.

Like everyone else, the cold weather makes it a lot harder for me to move. Even being in a cold room makes me stiffer. About the only thing that helps at all for me is to keep moving. Stretching helps temporarily, but as soon as I stop and sit down, there I go again, stiffer than a two by four. Walking does loosen me up somewhat. But I can't seem to come up with anything new that is lasting...Cindy

Paul..I know what you mean about fatigue... mine is terrible!! Maybe because it takes so much energy to just walk or do things that we never had to think twice about before. I also am using other muscles to compensate for my lack of balance, so that is tiring. It's hard to explain to my "normal" friends..they think I should not be this way. But if they only knew just how much energy it takes to get from one place to another! I haven't found a fix for this yet. If you do please pass it on!! Cindy

The only thing I've been told is TIME!!! It's a bit frustrating, but I'm still optomistic. I know I have strength in my legs because the therapist measued this during my sessions. I'm hopefully going to try my bike when the weather gets better. Come on Spring!!!!

I hate to say this but stiffness is probably something we all going have to live with. Exercise is the best method to help with it that I have found. Some days are better than others. Fortunate for me I'm not in the states with the cold cold weather which is a plus for me but at times we do dip down into the 20's and there is a bigger difference plus also traveling a good distance makes it worse. I guess it could always be worse.

Tony, Living in WNY the cold is what makes my stiffness and tignling bad. Last night my tingling and back pain was so bad that I thought the tumor was growing again. That's always in the back of my mind. I go to a gym program and stretch my back which seems to help. I walk bent over and that also does not help. I can't wait for warm weather!!!!!!!!!! Barb
