Hi Joel, That doesn't work for me :-(

I'd try the Activia if I liked yogurt. I just can't get more than a sthingy full down. I am willing to try a lot of things for this problem, and have.
One thing to look for and try to avoid, at least in high doses, is Iron. Women usually need more of it in their diet than the men. From all I can gather, Iron can promote constipation. I take my share of vitamins. For the multi-vitamins, I make sure they are Iron free. That has helped a little.
While I share this problem with others, I don't have any other advice to offer other than patience and whatever seems to be working at the time. Bowel and bladder dysfunction are very frustrating things for a lot of us. No one or two set things seem to work across the board for me other than time. Over time I have improved.... slowly. Especially slow compared to a lot of my other areas of progress.
A survey taken by spinal cord injury patients (all in rehab in a specialized facility specifically for sci) came across my radar sometime last year. It was a television special on Discovery Health or something of the sort. Focus was on the injuries, the surgical options, rehab and recovery. But I digress (again)....... Each patient was asked what things, in order of priority, they wish they could/would get back. Top three were unanimous. Bowel, bladder and sexual function. Those three over walking, pain management, independence, etc.

ADMIN.... Please check the potty mouth filter. I understand it's function, but.... "s p o o n and s p o o n f u l" are hardly offensive. Couldn't use either in my post above.

"S p o o n f u l" (see, filters have holes. lol) was an attempted statement about my very limited tolerance for yogurt. That said, I am also a BIG proponent of s p o o n i n g. ;D What does that have to do w/bowel difficulty? Well, I'll leave that potentially embarrassing situation to your imagination. I'm so glad I'm not the only one with a strong sense of humor around here, cynical and twisted as it may be.

Well, I was talking more-so about the "word within your word" that they are actually banning. As for the potentially embarrassing situation, I like to think of it happening during a cold winter month; and therefore a very caring, kind-hearted act of insulation and heat.

Went and Scrapheap - you two are cracking me up! But by the way, Went, my stepdaughter does use that word (the one that starts with the letter P and ends with an O and has another O in the middle...) - when referring to my grauddaughter's diaper. So that must be why it's a banned word??
But seriously, you guys point out the fact that keeping a sense of humor is essential. None of this is funny, and none of us wants to be in the position to be a part of this group - - but here we are. The humor helps take the edge off... Who'd have thought - years before any of us encountered our "challenges" - that we'd be posting online with folks about bowel issues anyway! I'd like to hope we would all have something more fun to do.
Thanks for keeping it real.

One thing that Carol Miller told me to use (remember her? My dearest friend and now departed; I still miss her so very much) anyway, she told me to try 3000 mg/day of Vitamin C. Wow did that soften things up! I was creating little squigglies in no time! Now, I am down to just 1000 mg/day, and with the other stuff I use (Activia w/cereal 2 per week & fiber wafers every day), I probably only clog the toidy maybe once a month now! Joel

Joel, Thanks for that tip but I'm trying to get the vision out of my head, ha,ha. On a side note, I am glad you mentioned Carol, because I think about her every day! I miss her so much to. Barb
