Hi, How is everyone? I hope you guys are doing well this Christmas season. TBH, we've all been pressured by this Covid-19 situation, I, myself have been feeling anxious and stressed the past few months because I still worry for my Dad that is vulnerable to Covid-19 even though he's doing well with Mom in isolation. How do you deal with this kind of feeling? Your thoughts would be really appreciated…

No advice, but from me some empathy. As a mostly retired part-time dog walker, I have very little contact with humans on a daily basis.
I do try to keep up with my weight training and another exercise, just in case there might be life on the other side of this mess. I have my dog to keep me busy, as well as the other dogs with whom I take care of. We have the beach, which changes daily, in terms of just watching nature, the waves, the seaweed or lack thereof, the pelicans, the dogs playing. I read books, and always have a few books which I have not yet read from which to choose whenever I finish one of them.
On our island, all the usual holiday events and activities have been canceled, so at least all of us are in the same boat.

Thank you for your sharing your thoughts. I hope that you still had fun this Christmas eve. A friend suggested me to search for breathing exercises online and I found one that helps. Also, she told me that I should listen to delta waves on youtube and that it will ease my mind. Somehow both worked! Another thing that I'm so happy about was my Mom asked me to do facetime with them on Christmas eve, and I had fun! I've prepared enough food for Christmas and with a bottle of wine, I've enjoyed celebrating my Christmas on facetime with my parents and some relatives! Btw, I've stumbled upon looking for some ways to cope with this anxiety and I hope that anyone who reads this will find some good advice too as I have. Merry Christmas to you and to everyone. www.prevention.com/health/a34574251/anxiety-vs-covid-19-symptoms/

Nice to hear it, man. How are you doing now? It's almost the end of the year, I hope you are able to communicate with your family while you celebrate the New Year! As you said, you can do facetime, skype w/e options you have there, there are lots!

I've had some bouts of anxiety, even losing a job over it. At that time, I ended up going to a psychologist and getting some drugs to help me get out of it. Since then, I've learned to identify the symptoms much earlier before I start to spiral down the hole of hopelessness.
My form of anxiety tends to take the form that in a task I don't really want to do, every tiny speedbump seems like a mountain. So I procrastinate the task, feel guilty about it, and then spiral into a state where I can't accomplish anything. When I do see this happening, I've found that the best approach is to acknowledge it, point out to myself that there isn't anyone else who is going to do this task, and I visualize the time when this task is complete and how much better that will feel.
