THANK TO ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS. I RETURNED HOME FROM HOSPITAL THURS AFTERNOON. HE REMOVED MY RIGHT BREAST AND LYMPH NODES. HE FEELS TUMOR WAS CONTAINED AND LYMPH NODES WEREN'T ENLARGE. TUES WILL HAVE RESULTS FROM BIOPSY. SINCE MOST OF US LOSS ARE SENSATION FROM SCT MY POST UP SYMPTOMS WERE INTENSE TINGLING AND BURNING SENSATION. I HAVE DRAINS THAT WE NURSE TILL THERE READY TO COME OUT. RECOVERY FROM SURGERY IS 4-6 WEEKS THAN I CAN START THERAPY. IF THERE IS ANYTHING TO LEARN FROM SCT IS TAKE ONE STEP AT A TIME AND HAVE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE AND STRONG FAITH. I COULD NOT DO THIS WILL OUT MY DEVOTED HUSBAND AND SON.
THANK YOU I'LL KEEP YOU UPDATED.

Hi Karen,
It so good to hear from you. At least it looks like good news for you with the lymph nodes being okay. I'm sure it hard to wait on the biopsy news but hopefully it will be good news for you. Right now just think good thoughts and concentrate on recovery. I know this is something that no woman wants to be told and go through but remember there is more to a woman than her boobs and there is still life when some part of our body is missing or not complete. You are truly blessed without measure to have a great husband and son.
Hang in there and keep your chin up! ~Linda

UPDATE: LYMPH NODES TESTED 3 OUT OF 13 POSITIVE. NOT NEWS WE WERE PRAYING FOR. NOW HAVE TO HAVE PET SCAN DONE. DRAINING TUBES STILL IN, HOPEFULLY TAKEN OUT ON TUES. SEE ONCOLOGIST MON. SEEMS LIKE WE'RE TAKING ONE TEST AT A TIME. PRAYING NO MORE BAD NEW.

Hi Karen. It may not be the news you were hoping for, but three nodes out of thirteen is not the worst of things. They will discuss many treatment options with you and kick this Beast once and for all. I am hoping that the three nodes is all that was positive. And that nothing else will show up on the PET scan. I wish you all the best...hugs, Cindy

I too wish you all the best. I often think about my condition and think of other illnesses out there that I could have had instead. You hope bad luck doesn't hit us twice. It is awful that you have to go through all of this in your life, having already been through sct surgery. I'm sure you are dealing with it as best you know how. I hope the PET scan brings settling news.
Take care Alison

Karen:
Count me in the Karen Fan Club as well. I am rooting for you and hoping for the best with the Pet Scan. My mom went through a similar process she had positive lymph nodes. She was 82 at diagnosis and she is 85 now and most would guess she is in her seventies. I sure respect your strenght and will continue to pray fopr you!

Karen - I've been thinking about you and praying for you. I know this will take time but you can beat this thing.
I've had problems getting logged onto the board for a number of weeks. I think I finally have it figured out.
I will miss seeing you at the conference.
Hugs & Prayers ~ Ruby

Karen, Like Cindy said- you had more negative nodes than positive. KEEP THAT IN MIND. A teacher that I work with had a breast removed last year and stage 4 cancer. She went through all last summer with chemo, radiation, full loss of hair, eyelashes and eyebrows and black fingernails. Today she has a full head of healthy hair, eyebrows and eyelashes are back and fingernails are back to normal. She just has to wear a stocking over her arm for swelling and be periodically checked. BUT SHE IS CANCER FREE!!!!!! Barb
