Hi again, Does anyone go to a chiropractor or have massage done on the area where your surgery was? I am so tight in that area and I was wondering if I had scar tissue and if either of these would help. Thanks again ;D Barb

Barb,
I go every other week for a deep tissue massage in the area of my surgery. It does help with the tight mussels for a short time. Also it is great to have someone understand how tight you are and to talk to for the 45 min I am there! I have developed a wonderful friendship with the person who hurts (deep tissue is painful but good) me every other week!

I do deep tissue massage once a week. It is not relaxing stuff but myofacial release. Certainly the surgical sight is a big area of work, but also I get tight due to my compensatory gait techniques and massage works to break down this tightness.

Barb: The massage is great, but I like a full-body massage. I also tried accupuncture while I was in Indonesia, but it didn't do anything for me (but I only went once). My feet hurt a lot too, so I also like when I get reflexology massages (on my feet).

I do massage, chiropractor, acupuncture and stretching classes. I used to be terribly tight around my shoulders and neck, but the combination of these four treatments have made a huge difference. Whenever I let them slide, I start getting tight and uncomfortable again. Out of all four, I actually think the stretching helps the most!

Kyle goes to the chiropractor - who does deep tissue massage. Helped ALOT!! Had to start slowly though, staying away from the area of the surgery at first. Slowly worked at until he could go to the surgery area. Kyle is looking forward to going back to the chiropractor when he is released from the hospital - I just have to get the OK from his docs first. I hope he will be OK'd to go, as long as he wears a mask.
