Dear Cindy Lee & group:
I have not posted much in a long time. I'm sorry I haven't contributed much lately. I did have to jump in on the Disney thread because I love Disney so much! I try and check out the posts at least once a week.
If you look under Spotlight Stories Mary Knotts you can read all about my spinal cord tumor experience.
I am still responding to the medication I take for my Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. It gets kind of old feeling so tired all the time and nauseous. I get blood work done every 3 months and it keeps coming back negative.
My oncologist attempted to do a bone marrow biopsy several weeks ago and he kept hitting my sciatic nerve so he stopped. For this test you have to lay down on your stomach and the doctor uses a very long needle to drill into your hip bone. Not a fun experience! After all my back problems I am very aware of what injuring your sciatic nerve feels like-he scared the heck out of my I was afraid it would hurt for a long time. Next time he is going to try and go in through my sternum. Fortunately they gave me some Xanax, Phenergran & Morphine. I was in la la land.
I overdid it working around the house on Saturday and then that evening I fell at my daughter's baseball game. I was just so tired and I don't pick up my feet when I get really tired. I got off balance and my left leg gave out on me. I now have a bruised knee and bruised hand. I fall about once every 3 years and I keep telling myself I am not a klutz!!!!
I still take Neurontin for neuropathy and I think I need to up the dose. I am going to a new neurologist in a couple weeks. The other one was old and cranky so I decided to start over. I haven't had an MRI in 4 years.
I am also going to a urologist next month to see if he can do anything for my incontinence. I don't think they can do anything because it is from nerve damage from the tumor. Who knows?
On a positive note, my daughter Michelle graduated from high school and is going to the sheltered workshop every day. All her friends go there and she loves it.
I am working part time at our local Convention & Visitors Bureau in the office. I really enjoy it and wish I could work more. I know my limitations though and usually spend the afternoon napping or taking it easy.
That's probably more than you needed to hear about me!
