I'm relatively early in my recovery. I had surgery 1/22/08. The numb left leg and arm only started post-op. The numbness in the left leg sort of peaked about a month post-op and has gotten better. The left arm thing only started late March/early April. My surgeon is not concerned and thinks it will go away. Once it took hours to go away. I contacted my surgeon, worried, and he didn't think it was a big deal. It still happens pretty frequently. It gets worse when I am in certain positions, like on my back with my head turned to the left. Unfortunately, you don't pick your position when you are sleeping. I frequently wake up on my back with a numb left arm during the night. I'm sure it interrupts REM sleep. Have you had surgery yet?

well, you can count me in on all of these problems. Sometimes my limbs FEEL asleep whn they really are not (and, vice-versa). I also use a little pillow to rest my arm on when I sleep--that seems to keep my arm from falling asleep. Joel
