Anybody else's skin feel thick and hurt when pressed upon? I wish I could get this sensation to go away. Motorally, I'm kind of where I was before surgery, however....sensorally, I am a total nightmare! My surgery was last September 07', and I know I'm still "newly recovering", but I want this sensation thing to go away so badly, and I have a feeling it's here to stay. Any of you veterans from this surgery have this too? I am currently only on a blood thinner and no pain relievers or anything else, which was my choice, because they made me feel like a zombie and I won't have that with two kids to take care of!!!! help.....

I don't have the feeling of thick and hurt. I was very tender for about a year after my surgery. Now I am tender when sitting and my back rubs against a chair. And if you touch me the wrong way...a little too much pressure...that area does feel extra tender. But the pain is gone. I guess I will always be extra sensitive in that area, but it is a lot better than right after my surgery. Cindy

I think I understand what you are talking about! My right upper side of my torso hurt so bad to the touch right after surgery then it felt like my skin was so thick and hurt to the touch. My PT told me to take a towel when done in the shower and rub it across the areas that were sensitive. I think this did help. I am still sensitive but more so if someone pats me on the back. Some days I would like to have a sign on me saying you can hug just do not pat! My skin still feels funny to me when it is touched. But the sharp pain that came with it is gone. So it does get better.

Bethann: YES, me too with the patting!!!!! I can't take it when someone bumps my legs or taps me on the thigh or something. My arms are okay, but from my torso down is not. I substitute teach and when I'm in the pre-k room, the kids want to jump into my lap. It's so hard because they don't understand why that would hurt me. But, just another sensory issue for us to bear.

Cindylee: Yes, the too much pressure thing applies to me as well. Guess it will either settle down or I'll just adjust. I'm 7 mos. post-op, so I guess I should be happy that I'm on zero pain meds., and was just taken off of coumadin. So, currently, I am on zero meds. I can walk and do most things, just uncomfortably, but oh well, maybe I will still have more healing over the next year.... Hope so. Hope you are doing well, and thanks for the advice.
