For those of you who remember my story forum1.aimoo.com/Spinal_Cord_Tumor_Support_Forum/Welcome-to-the-Main-Forum/I-m-Finally-Moving-Forward-1-1000755.html, I had my MRI last Friday. It's been a long process - so now we wait. The tech wouldn't say anything, but the one thing he did say struck me as very strange. He said that the results are normally available in 3-5 business days, but if he were me, he would be on the phone Monday morning asking my doctor to demand the films be read right away. I don't want to borrow trouble, but that was such a weird thing to say. On another note, my dad is having another MRI Wednesday and on Friday will see my NS. For those of you who don't know, Dad has an sct as well. He was diagnosed last August. We've been working since then to get his case transfered from Kaiser N. Cal to Kaiser S. Cal. Apparently it's two different systems and not an easy task. Finally Dr. So handled it all himself since member services couldn't. So things really are moving forward this time. No bumps in the road (like the evil left) to sidetrack me like last time. Cheers. Jody

Jody: I look forward to reading the post about your MRI results with the doc. That does seem like a very weird thing to say to you. You should be able to get a copy of your radiology report sooner than that though. I would physically go to the imaging center and ask for a copy. Then you would also be ready for questions when you visit your doc. Joel

Please keep us posted on things with you and your Dad. I don't think I've known anyone that had a family member going through this at the same time. Hugs to you both. Cindy

Thanks! The good news is no new tumor - the bad news is two ruptured discs causing central and left sided stenosis which causes symptoms similar to the tumor because of nerve compression.
Now I need to figure out if I want to have another back surgery...

Jody, I am so happy for you that there is no sign of a tumor! Have you met with your doctor about the report yet? It is crappy to find anything wrong! But then again it is good to get an answer to why you are having problems and maybe they can go away!! Take care! Beth

Jody, My follow up MRI's were very similar to yours. I am wondering if stenosis is common after having a laminectomy on several vertebra?
Did they put any steel in your spine after your surgery???

No. I had the laminectomy without the fusion. Something that was interesting on the MRI report was that it said the laminectomy was L-3 to S-1. I always thought that it started at L-4 so I wonder if it was a mix up on the radiologist's part or if I've been wrong all these years. I did some research last night and learned that with this type of condition, I'm possibly looking at a fusion. I'm concerned about a fusion over four levels and wonder what kind of mobility I will have. I also find it ironic that the tumor hasn't grown back, but the discs are now causing the same problems (to a MUCH lesser degree) that the tumor did. Gotta love irony, huh?

Hi Photomom,
I am in the same boat as you. I has a multi level laminectomy with no fusion. I am 10 years out, Yay! Bad news is I have developed degenerative disk disease since the operation getting worse each year. I don't use a cane and walk normally (as normal as I can manage,) and I still roller blade and other things. I have three levels of stenosis and this year I got worse (due to being rear ended in my car). I now have moderate to severe stenosis at the lowest lumbar area. I am losing sensation in my right foot and I was told to decide if and when I want surgery. I still get around well. I just don't want to wait too long.
