Thanks, everyone, for all your input. I might send my CDs to Dr. Jallo. Tony, thanks for the referral to Dr. Wright.... my NS is going to show my films to him (they work together anyhow).
While I'm waiting for the doctors to get together and talk about me, my symptoms are getting worse. I'm starting to have pain down my right arm again (I thought that had gone away), and the pain in and between my shoulder blades has gotten much worse over the past two days. Before, I took two pain pills a day and made it through tolerably well. As of two days ago, I am taking three a day, and I still have more pain than I did a few days ago.
Oh yeah... does anybody have these little foot cramps where your toes curl up and you can't get them to stop hurting for a few minutes? That is also something new this week, so I was just wondering.
I talked to my NS's nurse today and told her about the changes, and to ask the doctor about it (he was in surgery all day).
~Shan
p.s. Only 7 more days of school, then I am on summer vacation. I don't know who's more excited, the students or us teachers. ;D

Shan: Keep in mind that oftentimes, pains come and go, so maybe this is just one of those times...I get foot/leg cramps too, and have just come to accept it as part of the whole deal. But, that doesn't mean you should not be proactive. Don't wait on sending your stuff to Jallo. I would send him an email asap and begin a dialog with him. Hopefully everything will be OK, but please stay on top of things, OK? Joel

OK y'all.... the NS in St. Louis wants me to wait another month and have a repeat MRI, 3 months after the 1st one. The first NS that originally saw me thought the MRI showed a probable astrocytoma, and originally this NS thought so too. But then he talked to a supposedly really good radiologist, who said he thought it looked more like a myelin lesion.
But, I really feel like I got a big blow-off. I had to drive for 5 hours to see this guy, and then waited 2 weeks for him to get back to me after the consult. Think I'll try Dr. Jallo.
Jeez, I am SO TIRED of crying and praying about this... meantime everything hurts more every day.
Yours in Frustration, Shan

Well, I just emailed Dr. Jallo. Hopefully this will start a dialog that will accomplish something, even if he only agrees with the doc from St. Louis....

Shan,
With worsening symptoms do not wait for a month and another MRI. I'm glad you're moving ahead with Dr Jallo. My symptoms worsened quickly up until my surgery, I wouldn't have wanted to wait much longer. Make sure you have the best surgeon do it. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have more questions.

Dr. Jallo already sent me a reply! He asked me to send him all my CDs, history, and contact information. So I guess I'll zip to the hospital and pick up new copies of the CDs, because mine are all still at St. Louis.... He said, "I would be happy to review the scans, This is either a tumor or a demyelination such as MS. I would probably favor a repeat MRI of the spine and imaging of the brain to be certain." So at least I'm not going to sit around for a month getting worse, wondering every awful day if there were something I could be doing about this. 1.5 more days of school, then it's vacation time, and I'll have plenty of time for tests, doctor visits, and all that "fun" stuff.... and the GREAT thing is, I'm not crying anymore. Any forward movement is better than the alternative!!! ))

Dear Shan, I think of you often, since you are in the position I was in last Fall & our tumors are in the same area. I saw Dr. Jallo in January 2008. I'm glad he is going to look at your scans. It is so nice that he answers his emails promptly. I am going to see Dr. Fine, neuroncologist, at the National Institutes of Health next month. If you ever make the trip to see Dr. Jallo, maybe you would like to go to NIH, too, with all your scans (no charge to see the doctor). NIH is in Bethesda, Maryland. I could send you more information, if you are interested. Or wait until I see if it was worth the trip myself! Teresa
