:DHi Everbody...I did something today I haven't done in years...I RODE A BIKE!!! A friend had given me a three speed Schwinn and I spent a few weeks cleaning it up. Today was so nice, I thought it's now or never. So I got on. Boy am I wobbly. And my butt could stand a cushier seat. But I did it. Made it around a block..a country block. Took a breather. And did another lap. I am pretty pooped from just that short jaunt, but beaming! I did it! I think this will be wonderful to build up my legs. And the scenery here is wonderful. So I have had a good day today. Here's hoping all of you have had a good day too! Cindy

Congrats.
I heard they may be building a new BMX bike park soon. Maybe you could hit that up next.

Cindy,
Congratulations! Wow! I never thought to get on a bike again. Maybe I can find someone with one and try it. It'll bring back memories of when I got my training wheels off at 5 yrs. old. It's wierd, though, to think that my middle could balance. I don't know- my tumor was higher up in the cord (t1-t6) :-p Barb

I have been having great fun with my new bike! My balance is not quite there for me to feel good on a two wheeler and to lean forward on the handle bars hurts my shoulder an neck so.... I bought a recumbent bike with Three wheels I love it!! The handles are at the side and the seat is nice and big with a great back support! Beth

That's awesome Cindy! I tried it a couple of years ago and have been meaning to again. My problem is my left foot keeps slipping off of the pedal. I'm afraid to strap it down in case I need it to catch myself. You have inspired me to try again however! Please be sure to wear a helmet too! I know they are not very fashionable but so very important (maybe that's the mom in me).
Keep it up!
Kim

Well, I am sorry to say that I am strictly X-BMX! Is there a Geritol division of BMX?
Yeah, I'm with Beth--I have a 3-wheeled bike which is a lot of fun. Upright though, which is much cheaper than recumbant. My left foot also kept coming off, but with 3-wheels, it isn't that big a deal, so I built this wire cage for the tip of my shoe to go in, and now it works great. Joel

Well, these days walking is becoming more of a problem, but my bike is an essential companion. I can zip into town to shop, or tour the local heath where I run a conservation project. People think I'm really fit, but in reality I use the bike to keep me upright and mobile. To sum up, it represents freedom for me. Enjoy your bike!
David.

Just to keep everyone updated. I hope to be back out for another ride this weekend. I need a few days to calm the wobblies down. But I am not giving up yet, that little sense of freedom and the wind in my hair was wonderful. I'll become a biker-chick yet. Cindy
